Blessings,

I am Cindy R. Peay, a Beautiful Black Woman, Wife, Mother, Gardner, Hoticulist and the Creator and Owner of A Peace of Me Skincare. I was introduced to your platform by my Tribe Sistars last year and I love your spirit and messages. Most importantly, I love the space you hold for Women of Color. I wanted to share one of my practices because, as I continue on my healing journey, I know someone is seeking theirs, and I hope that my Surrender Ritual will help them take the first steps to a path of love, ease, and grace.

Thank you for this opportunity.

Peace, Grace + Blessings.

It’s no secret I’m a believer in creating spaces for my creativity, spirituality, health, and well-being. A few years ago I was seeking inner-peace, having no idea how to begin facing my childhood traumas, anger issues, and brokenness. All I did was cry and pray for guidance. It did not take long for my prayers to be answered. A week later on my morning walk, I stopped in a black-owned Holistic Treatment Shop, in my neighborhood. What drew my attention to enter the shop and explore was this lovely aroma I had never experienced. As I was welcomed in and told to look around by the owner, I encountered self-help and poetry books, journals, crystals/stones, tarot-cards, incense, candles, essential oils, herbs, roots, and botanicals jared and labeled with their medicinal purposes.

The owner introduced herself as a Spiritual Healer, certified Nutritionist, and Doula. I knew it was no coincidence that I was in this space, with this Queen, sharing my story. She talked about the importance of taking small but intentional steps towards one’s healing journey and the first step is to surrender. To be willing to commit and honor my past and present self. She explained how I should create rituals for my healing and recommended starting with a bath. She created a bath bag with herbs, oils and salts for me with instructions on how to use it.

Now here’s the thing, as a child I took baths every Sunday, with my Barbie dolls. Once I started my period, my mother ordered me to bathe at the end of each cycle, then in my young adulthood I took bubble baths with products from that cosmetic company whose name starts with an, “A” and the saleswoman was my bestie. I never knew what a healing bath was until I met Sister Tonya, I’m grateful I met her. Since that day, I continue taking weekly baths and allow myself time and space for yoga, meditation and journaling.Once a month, I prepare and perform a ritual bath to surrender. To clear my mind, body and spirit of past narratives & low vibrations to begin again and love my entire being, freely and unconditionally. Ase!

Ready to Surrender? Here’s what you need to perform this Bath Ritual:

Quiet Time and Bathtub

1 dozen of yellow roses or carnations (joy, love, brightness, happiness)

1 bunch of baby breaths (exhale, fresh start, freespirit energy)

1 cup of fresh rosemary (encouragement, cleanses negativity, balance)

2 cup of himalayan salt (purification)

15-20 drops Ylang-Ylang essential oil (self love, abundance & harmony)

Clear Quartz Crystals (amplifies intention and attunes to your higher self) White tea lights or White candles (calmness, new beginnings and peace)

Steps to the perfect Spiritual Bath

Schedule a day and time to prepare for your ritual bath. Buy all organic florals and herbs. If you can’t purchase organic, be sure to rinse them thoroughly. Cut stems from florals, and put into a bowl with rosemary.

Next, run a warm bath (slowly). While the water is running, write your affirmation/mantra, or prayer for what you want to surrender at this moment or for the month. Read it out loud while pouring salt into your bath water, then add essential oil.

When the tub is filled, intentionally add your offerings (florals/herbs) and place crystals around or in your tub.

Light your candles and dim lights. Lower yourself into your tub, and Surrender for 25 to 30 minutes.

Remember, to stay in the bathtub until all the water has drained out completely.

Step out of your bath carefully. Take a moment to honor this renewed energy with a deep breath, inhale then exhale. Close your ritual with gratitude and grace. Ase

Blessings All,

My name is Cindy Peay and I am the owner and creator of A Peace of Me Skincare. I created a line of organic/natural skincare products to help assist you in your daily self-care needs. A few years ago, I was dealing with health and anger issues that made me slow down and take a long hard look at what was going on in my life. My skin was inflamed and dry due to medications I was prescribed after being diagnosed with a chronic heart disease. My body and mind was unbalanced. I was a total mess and did not like the person I had become.

Taking a leave of absence from work, and having nothing but time on my hands, I starting taking steps to find inner peace. First step was getting to the root of why I was angry. I purchased a journal and starting writing my feelings, thoughts and needs down. I began researching ways to be mindful and kind to myself, and was lead to daily affirmations and how to meditate. I’ve always had a love for nature and outdoor activities, so I joined a community garden. I grew vegetables, flowers and herbs that helped my health and well-being. I started infusing different herbs such as lavender and thyme in butters, clays, and oils to help with my dry skin. But I also discovered bathing in herbs and flowers was therapeutic, so I created bath salt and sugar scrubs to bring tranquility and calmness to my body, mind and spirit. I also grew sage and other aromatic herbs to create botanical meditation tools that have helped with my self-care rituals.

I love the person I am becoming. I say BECOMING because this journey still continues as I become a better version of myself and offer a peace of me to you.
